Modeling for Multi-User Interference Analysis

The Dynamic Network Simulator covers a model of the radio network layout and
its environment. For UTRA/FDD, the radio network layout is represented
by the Radio Network Controller (RNC) and the locations of the Node Bs
and their antenna and corresponding cell configurations.
Simultaneously, there are many data transmissions of mobile users in
the network.
As it is essential for UTRA/FDD analysis, the radio
network model supports multiple services. The environment of the radio
network layout is characterized by the morphology, including streets,
and by the propagation characteristics.
Dynamic Modeling and Stochastic Simulation

The dynamic user behavior is taken into account by
appropriate user traffic and mobility models. This means that the
activation of users and their activity during a service session is
modeled by stochastic processes leading to the representative
initiation and termination of services within the simulation
distributed over space and time.
Multiple services can be modeled by a freely
definable mixture of different user types. The initial position of a
user is determined according to the corresponding service-specific
spatial traffic distribution. During their lifetime, the users move
across the simulation area and generate traffic according to their
service models. They may pass areas with different environment and
propagation characteristics with respect to pathloss, shadowing, and
fast fading.
