01-Oct-02:
Radioplan's Latest Version of the WiNeS Platform Offers New Compressed
Mode Functionality for 3G Network Operators |
| Dresden,
Germany. --Oct. 01, 2002-- Radioplan, a leading provider of dynamic
network planning and optimisation solutions, announced today the
availability of its WiNeS 1.3 Wireless Network System Simulation
Platform. WiNeS 1.3 offers third-generation (3G) UMTS/WCDMA wireless
network operators new functionality to support planning and QoS
analysis including the compressed mode, which is critical for seamless
handovers to different carrier frequencies of WCDMA networks and
inter-system handovers between WCDMA and 2G systems like GSM.
WiNeS 1.3 now supports the compressed mode as one of
the enhanced features of the WCDMA standard. Hence, it enables
operators to find out optimal traffic management rules and guidelines
for UMTS networks operating together with the already existing GSM
networks. Moreover, it allows the network operators to decide, how to
use their purchased frequency bands effectively and efficiently. The
impact of the compressed mode on the wireless network behavior can be
investigated in detail over time. Together with network optimisation
efficient traffic management policies are the key to optimally use the
available resources to bring services anywhere and anytime with a high
QoS to the customer.
WiNeS 1.3 is a fully GIS-enabled and
state-of-the-art platform that enables the network operators to
efficiently investigate the network configuration data and QoS results
obtained by emulating the entire radio access network behavior over
time. The dynamic UMTS simulation engine now supports all the
technical features required for the verification and QoS validation of
any currently deployed UMTS network.
"WiNeS 1.3 is the ideal platform for helping
network operators work through all the complexities associated with
planning, optimising, and dynamically validating UMTS networks. These
steps enable our customers to effectively build, deploy, and run their
3G networks", said Johannes Huebner, Radioplan's executive
manager. "With the WiNeS platform and the dynamic system
simulator, we provide our customers a comprehensive solution that
ideally extends the static planning tools in an efficient way in
helping to maximize the QoS by using the existing hardware
capabilities and saving lots of money."

| Radioplan
GmbH is a leading provider of dynamic network planning and QoS
optimisation solutions. Radioplans core platform WiNeS
enables network operators and IT service providers to efficiently and
effectively build, deploy, and run UMTS networks taking the radio
network dynamics fully into account. Supplementing the product
portfolio, the Radiowave Propagation Simulator RPS helps to
create detailed coverage maps taking the 3D environment and the
multipath radio channel including angles of arrival fully into
account, thus providing very accurate data required for comprehensive
3G and 4G outdoor and indoor radio network planning. Radioplan was
founded in 2000 as a spin-off from the Vodafone Endowed Chair for
Mobile Communications Systems held by Professor Gerhard Fettweis.
The headquarter is located in Dresden, Germany. Radioplan works
together with international partners located around the world. |
